The Specialised Kinesiology College of South Africa (SKCSA) is proud to offer the internationally recognised and accredited ICPKP programme which was first developed in the 1970’s and has grown to be one of the most respected Kinesiology modalities available world-wide. This course is the only course currently taught in SA that has all its modules recognized internationally. Now taught in over 40 colleges in 20 different countries BKP (the first year of the ICPKP programme) provides the student with a proven grounding in the basics of kinesiology as well as an international qualification and accreditation. We offer the following internationally recognized courses:
- International Certificate in Basic Kinesiology Principles (BKP)approximately 1 year – the basics that you will need on your journey to becoming a professional Kinesiology Practitioner. The course covers in depth the fundamental skills and knowledge of Kinesiology. It consists of the full BKP series (BKP101-110) plus units on clinical body contact (RBT 201), advanced emotional stress release (EMS 201), and Anatomy & Physiology (A&P 201). Teaching methods
A range of different teaching methods are incorporated according to the subject matter being taught and include manuals, handouts, visual aids including power point presentations, class discussion, theory and practical exercises, role plays and demonstrations

• International recognition (Australasian certificate and diploma course)
• The course meets the needs of a mature person who want a new career or a second income or for the school leaver who wants to choose a first career. It is also ideal for the trained health care practitioner to add to their existing skills to enhance their practice.
• In just a year you will be able to start practicing as a Kinesiologist and you can then “earn while you continue to learn”.
Competency assessments
To ensure competency, after each unit the student is required to:
• complete “homework”
• sit an open book 10 question exam on the internet
• practice the skills learned on willing volunteers at home and at work thus building confidence and a data base from which to source clients in the future.
• complete case studies after each series of units
Course recognition
There are 2 standards that will be fulfilled by doing the ICPKP programme. The South African requirements (ASKSA) are not as stringent as the requirements. We strongly recommend that you fulfill the Australasian requirements which will guarantee that you become a knowledgeable and well rounded Kinesiologist with international recognition

Please note that ALL courses taught at the Specialised Kinesiology Colleg are internationally recognized (except for the animal courses which are locally written).

Local recognition
After completing the first year of BKP you will receive an International Certificate in Basic Kinesiology Principles (BKP) i.e 180 hours of class study. This allows you to practice as an “Intern Kinesiologist” in South Africa. Once all homework (including Anatomy and Physiology) is completed a further 280 hours will be added giving a total of 460 hours. Once you have completed a further 3 workshops and have attended another stream of Kinesiology you can register as a Specialised Kinesiologist as per ASKSA regulations. We strongly recommend however that you complete the second and third year of study to attain your International Diploma of Professional Kinesiology Practice. If you would like the Advanced Diploma just continue on for a additional +-18 month.
You are advised to enroll as a student member of the local kinesiology association (ASKSA) at the commencement of the BKP course.
(Note – While Touch for Health was originally written by Dr John Thie for the lay person, Dr Dewe, wrote the ICPKP diploma course with the professional Kinesiologist in mind. BKP, the first year of the diploma course, includes most of the Touch for Health information as well as active listening skills, history taking, emotions and the meridian connection, ethics, nutrition and much more. BKP is the first year of the 4+ year part time ICPKP diploma course. )
