“I treasure the Touch For Health Synthesis. I see it as a candle lighting others way to better health and living. And I believe each one of us holds such a candle – perhaps as yet unlit – that can serve to guide those we cherish safely towards a more abundant life. I believe that families and individuals need help in becoming more competent in caring for themselves. Our endeavors are to share information that will enhance personal power in health improvement, disease prevention and releasing natural healing energies.
We believe that our world will be a better place when more people are having more peak performances and “personal bests” in all of their activities. The potential for having these peak performance is increased when the body is balanced using the TFH methods.
In 1970 I created Touch for Health. I wanted people to understand that there is always hope, no matter what their age of physical condition. Chiropractic, Kinesiology, nutrition, acupressure – all I’d studies and knew really worked – were translated into practical techniques people could use with themselves and their loved ones at home. Since 1970 millions of pope have experienced the help that Touch for health has given.”
Dr John Thie DC -(1933-2005) Founder of Touch for Health

Johannesburg College Celebration by Alex Killian

(by Alex Killian) Sir Winston Churchill once said “The heights of great (wo)men reached and kept, Were not attained by sudden flight, But they, while their companions slept, Were toiling upwards in the night.“ While the profound meaning of the statement was not lost to me, I did smile to myself as the very literal “hours of toiling in the night” flooded back. 2011 has been a particularly busy year for many of us and the PKP modules arrived with alarming regularity, an almost constant flow! Many hours of homework, preparation, online tests, case studies, exams, lectures and client sessions seemed unavoidably confined to hours well into the night.

On Saturday the 26th of November the Johannesburg College took some time to acknowledge all the hard work, and it was then that the depth of Sir Churchills words struck me. As part of the afternoon the students were given a couple of moments to tell the college about one client balance outcome which had been remarkable to them. Without fail each student related inspiring cases of how they had facilitated and witnessed life changing events as a result of their balances. So many clients’ lives had been dramatically moved … and that was just one story each. A credit to us all and a good time to celebrate our hard work, dedication and “the heights of great (wo)men reached and kept”.

Margie took the time to personally acknowledge each student as she handed out the certificates of achievement. All the various levels were recognised, and we were all especially proud of the students who received their Diplomas. A very special recognition of worthy accomplishment.

We now look forward to the 2012 year and to honing our skills as we continue to absorb the vast knowledge made available to us. Understanding that there is still much to learn, but motivated by the opportunity to acknowledge how much we have already achieved. Good luck everyone for 2012!

Charlie: “Amazing how that balance worked. Really did change a lot for me. Am getting on so well with my partner and he is acting very differently towards me. In a very loving way.”

Anthea: My IBS has not come back and it was definitely sorted out by your profound kinesiology session. My relationship is also open, loving and connected again after both the kinesiology and the chakra dancer opened my heart chakra. I have no doubt you will be a very busy kinesioligist and kahuna bodyworker and will make a difference in many people’s lives.

Anita: At a time in my life when I was going through deep emotional turmoil, I approached Brenda for a kinesiology appointment. Before the appointment I had been feeling sad and lethargic. I was not able to think clearly or function very well. During my session with Brenda, she tested me and shared mostly information with me in the form of comforting passages about life and about strength and moving forward, as well as clear instructions as to how to look after myself with specific reference to my personal problems. She also told me very clearly exactly what it was that I was experiencing – e.g. ‘your heart is broken’. Without expecting to, I experienced a huge surge of emotion and I was able to cry and release a lot of emotion that I had held inside me for a long time. The pain felt quite unbearable at the time. Brenda’s quiet, loving and non-judgmental presence provided a most valuable safe space for me to experience these emotions. I am so grateful to her for this and I said to her afterwards that it takes a special person to be able to sit with another and just hold the space and the pain; she gave me permission to do what I needed to do. After the session I felt very raw, but my healing was quick to follow and the unbearable pain became manageable and then became a part of my life that I felt I could hold without it causing further injury. It was a very important and meaningful experience for me. One that made me emotionally and physically stronger.

Judi: I came to kinesiology somewhat suspicious of those professing to do healing work. … not because it was new to me but because I’d been exposed to a side of it that sharpened my antenna for snakeoil saleswomen of the healing stripe. Instead, what I experienced with Brenda was a profound sense of being contained by a wise, intelligent, competent, compassionate, delightful soul. And while my mind got into knots – of protection, delusion, chattering, gatvolness – my body clearly knew that it was OK to trust and work towards healing. Brenda works with effortless ease. The changes are tangible, the journey a surprise.

Niki: After my last session with you I felt extremely relaxed and came away with a better understanding of some of my personal issues. It was a bit strange but it almost felt as though my body was going through a bit of a detox – although I don’t think we worked on that ? I had a tender feeling in my liver. I almost felt like my body was getting rid of some old baggage so I drank extra water and felt fantastic in no time at all. Thank you.

Neil: Post our session, I’ve asked myself often: what do I want in this situation? And that awareness has led to a substantial sense of liberation. I actually think you’re onto something re: addiction and nutrition … I know that large quantities of coffee make me feel nervous … time to find a substitute. From today, I’m going to halve my coffee intake at work and see if that has an effect by end of week….. “Exquisite care.” I’ve always thought of myself as being able to take good care of myself … but the idea of exquisite care is different … it implies treating myself as precious … which is establishes a different relationship that I’m enjoying exploring.

Tessa Bruning, one of our third year students has taken 2 months off to walk the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St James) in north western Spain. Tessa’s class mates light a candle and read an essence card each week to hold her in a safe place while she walks! In a way she represent all of us who are doing “our journeys” in our own many and different ways – as she walks, we walk with her in our hearts.

Confucius said that a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step – We wish Tessa a journey of many steps, thoughts, smiles, memories, and new adventures

Dancing Through Life

Living life through the body is one path to finding equilibrium in life. This is the path that Brenda lives by. Learning to trust the innate wisdom of one’s body is the key to knowing one’s self and improving one’s life.

Specialised Kinesiology is the perfect modality to access this inner wisdom (or the subconscious mind). After being a client of Margie Donde for seven years, and teaching Nia (a mind-body-spirit movement technique) for five years, Brenda decided to become a Kinesiologist to expand her knowledge about the connection between mind and body and to help others live their lives more positively.

Her interest in working with the body as a holistic system on all levels… physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, led her to learning the ancient Hawaiian healing art of Kahuna bodywork and massage – a transformational massage done to dynamic music.

Brenda is also an artist. Intuitive creative expression has played a big part in her own healing journey. She has experience in holding Intuitive Art Journaling and Soulpainting workshops and classes for people to learn more about themselves through this medium.

All these modalities have the ability to blend together in a unique dance in Brenda’s practice….

Brenda offers a Holistic Life Enhancement Programme from her home in Lonehill. Her philosophy is based on “practising the Art of Exquisite Self-Care”. When you take care of your self and “fill up” your internal tank on a regular basis, you have more energy and love to give to others.

Clients can book for specific sessions, or work with a blend of all modalities in a specially designed package for individual growth and releasing of old patterns through bodywork and creative expression. With the help of Kinesiology, clients can guide their own process to finding greater balance, harmony and wellbeing in their lives and relationships.

You can choose separate sessions or a package:

Specialised Kinesiology balances

Bodywork: Kahuna Massage / Polynesian Floor Treatment and Joint release / Pregnancy massage

Private /Semi Private Nia movement guided sessions

Intuitive Art Journaling and Soulpainting

Tweenies and Teens are most welcome too. Brenda has two daughters aged 11 and 15, and has experience in working with these ages.

Brenda is available most mornings, late afternoons, evenings and weekends…. to play, create, laugh, cry, dance and help you grow into your best self. Brenda works from her home in Bryanston.

Like so many woman today, Tarryn is a wife, mother and career woman, thus she has a deep understanding of the overwhelming responsibilities of trying to maintain the balance of family and work.

She experienced the power of Kinesiology with anyone young and old when her own daughter at the tender age of 5 weeks had her first Kinesiology session for colic and sleeping issues. After one session her daughter slept through the night and has continued to do so ever since. She has used her Kinesiology experience on a number of young babies with similar issues with great success.

Coming from a corporate background focusing on relationship building, Tarryn has come across numerous forms of work stress and personal stress that people have to deal with on a daily basis and she has developed a deep understanding of the needs of men and woman.

Tarryn is also experienced in helping with relationship issues, repetative behavioural patterns and parenting issues, from single parents to divorcees as well as family dynamics.

Tarryn believes in empowering people, and creates a safe, empathetic and non judgmental space in which her clients have the tools to heal, change and grow. She has a very gentle manner and amazing ability to get to the point and help the client connect to the issue with lightness and grace.

Mandy fell in love with Kinesiology 15 years ago when she went to a Kinesiologist for a session and thought WOW!

Mandy has always been interested in alternate therapies and has studied Reiki, Numerology and Quantum Light Healing but found that Kinesiology is so unique because it encompasses every aspect allowing you to heal your body mind and soul at the same time.

Mandy Is constantly involved in working on herself and her own life and is constantly open to learning making her sessios a powerfull experience .

Mandy has also extensive experience in the corporate world and this gives her a deep understanding of the stresses accosiated with it.

Mandy Believes that because Kinesiology works at such a deep level it is not about changing habits or situations but rather about the transformation that occurs when we let go of blockages that are stored in the body whether it is physical mental or emotional.

Lisa, a passionate Kinesiology practitioner, started studying kinesiology in 2008 and is constantly amazed at the power of the kinesiology process and the life changing effects this has on her life and others’ lives.

In following her passion to help others reach their full potential she completed her Psychology degree at the University of Cape Town (http://www.uct.ac.za) in 2007. She realised that Psychology together with Kinesiology would be an extremely powerful tool and an excellent opportunity in helping others to help themselves. She has found that Kinesiology is a much more direct way of working on past traumas and stresses and is a way of dealing with exactly what is necessary to make changes more rapidly and effectively and that using the two together can result in amazing outcomes.

Lisa carries out her healing in a professional and kind manner and derives an enormous amount of satisfaction out of seeing others’ find self growth and self healing. She enjoys helping others discover healthier thinking patterns and the effects of ones emotional state on ones’ physical well being.

In addition, Lisa is a Massage Therapist as well as a Reiki Therapist and has completed a number of courses in Hypnotherapy at the South African Institute of Hypnotism (http://www.hypnotherapy.co.za), including Advanced Hypnotism, Self Mastery through Hypnosis and Past Life Regression courses. The tools she has learnt through her additional studies are an invaluable and complimentary part of her therapy practice.

Testimonial – Anonymous male accountant

“I was struggling with releasing my emotions and had an obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). I was unable to show my emotions and was not able to let out the pain I was feeling, which resulted in it all building up inside of me. My OCD also started having a negative effect on my life and made me feel as if I had lost control. My sessions with Lisa resulted in opening some very deep emotional wounds from my past, some from childhood, and living through them all again. Lisa was able to help me deal with these issues through the use of kinesiology.

After having completed my sessions with Lisa, I feel as if my life is complete. I am now able to let out my emotions freely, cry when necessary, which I have not been able to do for the past 12 years. My OCD problems have been taken care of and I feel in total control of my life again. With the help of Lisa, I have become very positive and happy again. I have subsequently also been having massages with Lisa to deal with all the stress and challenges faced, which have contributed to the successful implementation of the changes in my life.

The kinesiology sessions I had with Lisa were beyond amazing. I couldn’t believe the power of kinesiology and the effect that it has had on my life. Lisa was very professional at all times and respected the confidential and personal information which she discovered during the sessions. Lisa is passionate about her career; as well as caring and compassionate towards her patients. I felt completely secure and in trusting hands.” “

Angela is a dynamic and dedicated practitioner. For the past 12 years she has owned and run the charming Cloud 9 heath spa in Craighall Park Johannesburg. After years of headaches in her 20’s she developed a passion for knowledge and practice of self healing methodologies. This passion, eventually lead her to Kinesiology.

A dedicated student, she has spent years in fascinated study in the areas of mind body medicine, brain science, and the workings of the unconscious mind.

In additions to Kinesiology, Angela does various types of massage, stress management and relaxation treatments in her spa in Craighall park. An experienced teacher, she is also a “Touch For Health facilitator”. Touch for Health is an 8 day Kinesiology course for those who would like to work with basic Kinesiology in their own lives.

Testimonials

I am so blown away by my body’s response to the kinesiology! A huge weight has lifted and the pain is no longer there. What a wonderful thing you have done thank you so much.
I will let you know if there are any changes during the next few weeks. – Tina

And 2 weeks later:
My shoulder is no longer in spasm and I haven’t had pain since. Kinesiology rocks!!! – Tina

And another 3 weeks after that

BTW I haven’t had anymore problems or spasms with my shoulder!!! And I haven’t had any back pain since the treatment from you. Cool hey! – Tina

I am the type of person who does a lot of work on myself. I have been doing that for many years and have seen much growth. Nothing however comes even close to the growth I have seen in the last while as I have been having the kinesiology treatments. It’s as if Ang and the kinesiology appeared just as I needed them most. It all started with Ang noticing that I was having a really hard time – I was having to part with my foster child of over 4 years due to his violent behaviour. I was at the end of my tether. Somehow as I have healed from this great loss and change a new me has emerged. Ang and the kinesiology have been my constant support and partners in the process. It seems as though it has a way of unearthing the truth behind one’s behaviour and then balancing you and supporting you in the changes you need to make. What is deeply unconscious can come to the surface if you are prepared and have the courage to let it. I felt a transformation in each and every session. And then the support practices that I left each session with often helped that change to entrench. None of this would be of any value if it wasn’t for Ang. She is a true healer. She is one of those people that makes you wonder “How does she know that? How can she have so much wisdom for someone so young?” She listens, recognizes and feeds back to you in an inspirational, caring and humorous way. She can talk you into a visualization like no–one I know. What a precious person. I think these treatments can take you as deep as you have the courage to go provided the healer knows and understands the deep places too. Angie knows and understands and holds you there with loving kindness.

Thank you Ang. Thank you for bringing this healing modality to me when I needed it most. Thanks for being so good at it. I am eternally grateful to you. – Sheila

The couple of weeks after I saw you were fantastic! No migraines etc. Unfortunately I had a bad spell over a few days after those weeks with a bad migraine, but it did go away gradually (with meds and physio). I’m now in the US and feeling better than ever – yay!! I had a better flight than I’ve ever had before and I’m still full of energy on my second day here – the work is amazing and I’m sooo glad to be here!!! Thanks for all your help – I really feel alive again and ready to do what I love! I’m also much kinder to myself when I’m not feeling well, but that definitely seems to be less often than it used to be. Best of all, I’m not feeling limited by my illness now that I’m here which really feels good! – Tammy who has been suffering from Chronic fatigue syndrome for the last 2 years
